I hate seasoning packets. There is no place good to store them and they are so high in sodium. Plus, nine times out of ten I end up adding more spice to them. Tacos are something we make all the time so I wanted to find an at home recipe for the seasoning. After trying out many, I combined a few and this is what I came up with. If you like your tacos packed with flavor and heat, this recipe is for you.
- 1 tablespoon chili powed
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion salt (or powder and a pinch of salt)
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp dried oregeno
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
Mix together in a small bowl
Coat your 1 pound of browned ground turkey or beef with 2 tablespoons of flour then add your spice mix. Add 2/3 cup water and allow to simmer/ thicken. I recommend serving with my guacamole and salsa your other favorite taco garnishes.
