This new adventure out to California has been a great one! With this being out 5th trip from the Midwest to California (or viceversa) in the past 2 years, we needed a relaxing road trip for once! As you may have read from previous posts, we normally do the trip in under 3 days. This time, we are relaxing, taking a new route (35 down to I-40 and over), stopping to see friends along the way and seeing the sites.
We have spent a night in Des Moines, IA seeing our friends and another night in Oklahoma City, OK. (We stayed at the Firelake Grand Casino off of I-40: Free RV sites with water and electric and you don’t have to gamble! But we did and ended up donating $40 for our site 😉 )
Tonight, we stopped in Albuquerque, NM and are staying at the Isleta Lakes RV Park. It’s off of 25, just south of downtown. It’s lovely. Very quiet and clean. There is a convenience store, trails, fishing lakes, a golf course, a near by casino, walking distance to the train that takes you down town, a laundry facility, each site is a pull through with water 30 & 50 amp electric, cable, sewer, a grill and a covered picnic table! All for a mere $35 a night.
Tonight, we are enjoying a little R&R in our newly remodeled camper with the long dog and are looking forward to a relaxing day in Albuquerque tomorrow! Yup, we’re staying 2 nights!
*added notes: We woke up a little groggy from the constant train whistles going throughout the night, so keep that in mind. And J.O was not able to get a round of golf in because they were hosting a tournament, so we decided to continue down the road and not stay a second night
